GOSHEN — Sophomore Isaac Miller was one of 17 Manchester Spartans selected to the all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference spring all-Academic team.

The Fairfield High School graduate is a member of the men’s tennis team.

Honorees must have at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA and be a varsity athlete.

Miller had an 8-6 record at No. 3 singles for the Spartans. He was 6-7 at No. 1 doubles with senior Conner Eichenauer and 0-1 at No.1 with Bailey Buhrt.


•Freshman Alexandra Swank (Fairfield) recorded a 10-5 singles record for the Earlham Quakers. She was 0-1 at No. 3, 4-1 at No. 4, 2-1 at No. 5 and 4-2 at No. 6. Overall, she was 5-10 in doubles matches. Swank was 0-1 at No. 3 with junior Lan Phan, 0-1 at No. 3 with sophomore Juliana Menke, 3-7 at No. 1, 1-0 at No. 2 and 2-6 at No. 3 with freshman Abby Stewart; 1-0 at No. 2 and 1-0 at No. 3 with freshman Ari Sanchez Villalpando and 0-1 at No. 3 with freshman Tristin Makufa.

•Freshman Kaitlyn Burger (Fairfield) finished with an 0-14 overall mark, 0-2 at No. 2 singles and 0-12 at No. 3 for the Manchester Spartans. She was 1-10 with junior Morgan Brazzo at No. 2 doubles and 0-3 with freshman Maddie Russow at No. 3.

• Junior Taylor Freedline (Elkhart Memorial) was one of five members of the Bethel Pilots named to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) all-Region Team. Freedline won 11 matches at No. 1 singles and 11 at No. 1 doubles.


•The Manchester Spartans notched a 14-23 overall, record, 8-9 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Sophomore shortstop-pitcher Michael Pinarski (Goshen) had a .262 batting average (27-for-103) in 35 games. He had five doubles, a triple and a home run; 23 runs scored, 13 RBIs and nine stolen bases. Pinarski posted a 1-3 record in 10 mound appearances. He walked seven and struck out 23 in 34 innings of work.

Freshman pitcher Tyler Colpitts (Goshen) had a 1-0 record in nine appearances. He walked 10 and fanned 10 in 9 1/3 innings of work.

•The Indiana University South Bend Titans posted a 13-38 overall record, 11-19 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Junior pitcher Andy Ross (Northridge) had a 2-8 record in 13 appearances (10 starts). He struck out 37 in 61 innings of work.

•Junior Matt Miller (Northridge) batted .200 (24-for-120) with four doubles, a triple and two home runs. He scored 24 runs, drove in 14 and stole six bases.


•Junior Matt Truex (Goshen) and classmate Jared Birr (Northridge) competed this season for the Earlham Quakers. Truex played 7 1/2 rounds posting an average of 84.4. He had a low tourney score of 179 and a low 18-hole score of 79. He had played 39 career rounds with an average of 83.08.

Birr played four rounds with an average 85.25. He had a low tourney round of 161 and a low 18-hole round of 79. He has played 39 career rounds posting an average of 84.38.


•Freshman Dinah Gilbert (Elkhart Memorial) finished sixth in the 10,000 meters (42:21.41) for the Manchester Spartans at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference meet at Mount St. Joseph.


•Sophomore Brian Hochstetler (Concord) was fourth in shot put (13.78 meters) for the Manchester Spartans in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference meet at Mount St. Joseph.

•Sophomore Mikey Holtz (Elkhart Central) placed seventh in pole vault (13-5 1/4) for the Rose Hulman Fightin’ Engineers at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference outdoor championship meet and sixth (13-5 1/4) in the HCAC indoor meet.

•Junior Spencer Shank (Westview) was a distance runner for the Wabash Little Giants.\


•The Hanover Panthers finished with a 21-7 overall record, 14-4 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Freshman Brad Delio (NorthWood) appeared in six game, averaging 1.2 points per game.
