POLICE NEWS: Multiple local arrests reported July 4

Local police reported several arrests July 4.

• Salvador Barrios, 52, 405 Glenwood Drive, Goshen, was arrested by Goshen police and jailed on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a traffic stop at Greene Road and West Clinton Street around 11:50 p.m. Thursday.

• Juan Munoz Garcia, 41, 713 S. 11th St., Goshen, was arrested by Goshen police and jailed on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving without a license following a traffic stop at South Eighth Street and Plymouth Avenue around 10:20 p.m. Thursday.

• Jennifer Battles, 33, 58750 Chase Trail, Elkhart, was arrested by Goshen police on a charge of theft at Walmart, 4024 Elkhart Road, around 11:40 a.m. Thursday. Battles was released at the scene with a citation to appear in court.

• Monica Helms, 32, 1601 S. Main St., Goshen, was arrested by Goshen police on a charge of possession of marijuana following a traffic stop at Main Street and Plymouth Avenue around 9 a.m. Thursday. Helms was released at the scene with a citation to appear in court.

• Tiffany Stokes, 33, Brookside Manor, Goshen, was arrested by Elkhart police and jailed on a charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and refusing to identify herself following a traffic stop at Main Street and Hively Avenue in Elkhart around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

• Cindy Taylor, 30, LaGrange, was arrested by LaGrange County police and jailed on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and reckless driving following a traffic stop in the 300 block of U.S. 20 Thursday.

• Jeremy Curry, 31, was arrested by LaGrange County police and jailed on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication after police responded to a complaint about activity in a room at the Travel Inn, 50 C.R. W. 815 North, Howe, around 5:15 a.m. Thursday.

• Tocarra McIlvain, 33, Angola, was arrested by LaGrange County police and jailed on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a scheduled drug after police responded to a call about a woman slumped in a car outside the Golden Buddha restaurant in Howe around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. After waking her, McIlvain led police on a short pursuit before she was stopped and taken into custody, according to a report.

• Bernice Rosbrugh, 38, was arrested by Goshen police and jailed on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at the Comfort Inn Hotel, 2309 Lincolnway East, around 5 a.m. Friday.

THEFT

Billy Silcox, Goshen, reported to Goshen police a vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of Walmart, 2304 Lincolnway East, around 7:40 p.m. Thursday.

FORGERY

Staff at Menards reported to Goshen police a check was forged at the store, 1925 Lincolnway East, around noon Thursday.

BURGLARY

Leonard Penner, Millersburg, reported to Elkhart County police tools were stolen during a burglary to the garage of his home sometime between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

• Samantha Rogers reported to Elkhart County police a window on her vehicle was broken at Gallops, 18423 U.S. 20, around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

• Staff at Ivy Tech Community College reported to Elkhart County police property was vandalized at the campus, 22531 C.R. 18, Goshen, sometime between 12:45 p.m. Monday and noon Tuesday.

CRASH

David Zinkie, LaGrange, was injured when a mechanical issue caused him to crash the motorcycle he was driving in the 200 block of West Ind. 120 around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, LaGrange County police said in a news release.

Zinkie was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital to receive treatment for injuries that included road rash and leg pain, police said.

HIT-AND-RUN

Brenda Lopez, Goshen, reported to Goshen police a hit-and-run crash that occurred at Brookside Manor around 12:45 a.m. Thursday.
