MIDDLEBURY, Ind. — At an early morning special meeting Friday, the Middlebury Town Council formally approved the annexation of four industrial and commercial areas adjacent to the Middlebury town limits.

The council adopted annexation ordinances for KLT Industrial Park, which is located south of U.S. 20, the OSMC property north of town on Ind. 13, the Indiana RV Connection property (formerly called Cargo Plus) north of town on Ind. 13, and the Woodland Park property south of U.S. 20.

KLT is an industrial subdivision containing a variety of manufacturing facilities, according to Town Manager Mark Salee. The industrial park has expanded, so by previous agreement the expansion portion is annexed.

OSMC recently opened and is an occupational health and sports medicine clinic. The Indiana RV Connection is a retail recreational vehicle sales site.

Salee said that Woodland Park is the site of a single manufacturing facility. The annexation action for that site is primarily a correction, as a small, contiguous part of the property had been mistakenly overlooked. Woodland Park manufactures modular homes, he added.

Thanks to the approval of the final step in the annexation process Friday, the annexation of the four properties will take effect Jan. 1, he said.

The council adopted fiscal plans for the four areas in June and held the public hearing for the planned annexations Aug. 18.

Salee said that all four property owners had agreed not to remonstrate against annexation in return for the town providing utilities to their sites. Any recent development projects on the properties were either completed or substantially complete, he added.
