SOUTH BEND — Niles, Michigan, residents Jill and Nick Corley have been named the Michiana Division’s March for Babies Ambassador Family for 2015.
Jill, Nick and their two sons walked in the 2006 March for Babies. They never realized that they would soon need March of Dimes services. Later that same summer, Jill was pregnant again, and further testing indicated that the child had spina bifida. After several anxious months, their daughter, Katarina, was born in November of 2006. Numerous surgeries followed.
Jill reports that Katrina is now an active, smart, funny 7 year old.
The Corley family was selected as the Michiana March for Babies Ambassador Family because of their passion to help all families have stronger, healthier babies.
“We were very lucky. Katarina may not be why I started walking and volunteering for the March of Dimes, but she is absolutely the reason why I continue to do the walk every year,” Jill said.
The Michiana March for Babies is set for May 16 at Four Winds Field, South Bend.
