Graff Bash to raise funds for Bashor Children’s Home
On July 20 and 21, Van Galder Murals and DreamHop Entertainment will host the Fifth Annual Graff Bash. The event will be a Fundraiser for the Bashor Children’s Home of Goshen.
This year the event will be a block party in the 100 block of South Niles Avenue, South Bend at the South Bend Community Art Wall. There will be a Graffiti Art Mural Exhibition with Graffiti Artists from all across the Midwest. In addition, there will be live bands, DJs, food vendors, art vendors, vendors and breweries.
The event will run each day from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. This family event will allow children to be admitted free with their parents in attendance. Tickets are sold online at the Brown Paper Ticket website.

Birding workshop, ice cream social coming up
A Family Birding Workshop and Ice Cream Social is set for July 13 at the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site, 1205 Pleasant Point.
Organizers said families will work together to build a birdhouse and learn about the birds that live at the site, then enjoy bird watching during a bird hike. Participants will also listen to a reading from “Morning Face,” a book written by Gene Stratton-Porter for her granddaughter, featuring sing-songs and short stories about birds and plants found at the site. After the birding hike there will be an ice cream social in the Carriage House.
Each family will build and decorate a birdhouse to take home. Additional birdhouses are available for a $12 fee.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. and last until noon. Cost will be $30 for member families or $35 for non-member families.
Library has summer reading club
Children, teens and adults in the Middlebury area are invited to join the Middlebury Public Library’s Summer Reading Club. Those who join will have a chance to win prizes.

Public can purchase books at library
The Friends of the Library will host a book sale at the Goshen Public Library July 18 from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. featuring $1 paperbacks, as well as a large assortment of fiction and non-fiction materials, children’s books, reference and textbooks, and yearbooks. Special collections will include home improvement, foreign language, medical/health, nature/animals, and Hollywood. All proceeds are used to fund special library projects.
Jonathon Yousey named to dean’s list
Wheaton College student Jonathon Yousey of Goshen, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester.
To earn dean’s list honors at Wheaton, an undergraduate student must carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on the 4.0 scale.
