Thanksgiving meal at Pizza Depot

Everyone is invited to the Pizza Depot’s annual free Thanksgiving Dinner Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 104 S. Jefferson St. in Millersburg. MISHAWAKA

Holiday craft, adoption event Saturday

People of all ages are invited to join Elkhart's Heartland Small Animal Rescue and the Jordan Automotive Group for a Holiday Craft & Bake Sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will take place at Jordan Automotive Budget Lot at 801 E. Jefferson Blvd., Mishawaka. Admission is free.

Photos with Santa will be available for $5 each. Homemade crafts and baked goods from 50 cents up will be offered for sale. A few animals available for adoption will be on site.

NORTHERN INDIANA

Deer to be tested for disease

During opening weekend of deer firearms season, Saturday and Sunday, Indiana Department of Natural Resources biologists will be stationed in northern Indiana to collect samples from hunter-harvested deer for Chronic Wasting Disease testing.

CWD is a serious neurologic disease affecting white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk and moose. CWD is found in free-ranging and captive white-tailed deer in several Midwestern states close to Indiana, including Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Hunters may submit deer for testing at check stations 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fish & Wildlife Areas and partnering businesses.

Vape meeting rescheduled to Nov. 28

The Principals and Parents meeting that was set to take place this past Thursday has been rescheduled for Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Lakeland High School, 805 E. 075 North, LaGrange.

Indiana State Excise Police North Region Commander, Capt. Tim Cleveland, will talk about the dangers and warning signs of the growing vape, Juul and e-cigarette movement among teens.

Lehman named to University Singers

Micah Lehman of New Paris has been named to Bob Jones University’s University Singers, BJU’s largest choral organization. Lehman is a sophomore majoring in Bible.

The University Singers will perform in “A Very Merry Christmas,” Dec. 6, a concert which will feature all the choirs of the University in addition to the Symphonic Orchestra.
