GPL meetings set for next week

The Board of Trustees of Goshen Public Library will gather for a public services committee meeting at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The committee will review the proposed fine-free initiative for children's and young adult materials.

At 5 p.m. Wednesday, the Board of Trustees search committee will meet in executive session to receive information about and review prospective employees.

Both meetings will take place in room A/B on the lower level of the library at 601 S. Fifth St., Goshen. For more information, call 533-9531.

Zwier receives doctorate

More than 3,320 students received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the winter commencement ceremony Dec. 16. About 1,300 graduates took part. Elisabeth Zwier, Goshen, Indiana, graduated with a doctorate in philosophy, curriculum and instruction from the School of Education.

Koch receives award

Camden Koch, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2021, has earned the fall 2018 dean’s award for academic excellence.

Koch is a graduate of Northridge High School, Middlebury. He is majoring in economics.

Students who receive a term grade-point average of 3.3 or higher while completing at least three courses earn the award.

White makes dean’s list

Marie White of Elkhart was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Washington University, St. Louis. White is enrolled in the university’s McKelvey School of Engineering.

To qualify for the dean’s list in the McKelvey School of Engineering, students must earn a semester grade-point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 12 graded units.

REAL Services needs volunteers

REAL Services is in need of more volunteers to deliver meals to Elkhart seniors and homebound residents. Meals are picked up daily from the kitchen at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2715 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart. Delivery routes typically take one to two hours and must be delivered by 1 p.m. Volunteers can sign up for one day per week or more.
