Ten 4-H members were selected to participate in a Chicago trip Dec. 28 and 29.

The 4-H members started their visit to Chicago by viewing the King Tut exhibit at the Field Museum. The group had lunch at Lawry’s The Prime Rib and then did some sightseeing along Michigan Avenue. In the evening, they had Chicago-style pizza at Giordano’s and attended a performance of the musical “Mamma Mia” at the Cadillac Palace Theater. The group stayed overnight at the Embassy Suites hotel on Columbus Drive. On Dec. 29 in the morning, the 4-H members toured the Lincoln Park Zoo, then had lunch at Ed Debevic’s before returning to Elkhart County.

4-H members in grades 10-12 were invited to apply for the trip.

Participants were selected based on their tenure, service, and accomplishments in the 4-H program. Participants for the 2006 Chicago trip were: LauraEllen Burtsfield, Goshen; Aaron Denlinger, Elkhart; Ashley Gautsche, New Paris; Tricia Gautsche, New Paris; Adriana Klinedinst, Elkhart; Adam Martin, Elkhart; Owen Prough, Goshen; Mara Scott, Elkhart; Chuck Snyder, Goshen; and Ashley Werntz, Goshen.

Chaperoning the trip were Laurie Sula and Pam Brock, 4-H youth educators with the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service in Elkhart County. The trip was sponsored by the Elkhart County 4-H Club Corp.
