Vistula Head Start in LaGrange and Steuben counties is accepting applications for fall enrollment for children ages 3 to 5 years of age. Children must be 3 years old by Feb. 1 of this year to be eligible.
Vistual Head Start is a federally funded program designed to give children who meet the federal income guidelines a “head start” by providing developmental and comprehensive social service. Specific services for children focus on education, social emotional development, nutrition and physical and mental health.
Centers are located in LaGrange, Angola, Fremont and Hamilton. The program is held four days a week, Monday through Thursday, beginning in September and running through May. Vistula also has a full-day 11-month program in LaGrange. This program is available to parents who are working or going to school.
LaGrange American Legion Post 215 will serve all-you-can-eat chicken dinners with salad bar Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost is $7 per person.
Life Care Center of LaGrange is hosting an open house for the grand opening of the new “Transition Pointe” rehabilitation center. The open house will take place Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Life Care Center is located at 0770 N. 075 East in LaGrange.
The LaGrange County Public Library will have a children’s story time Wednesday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. and again from 1 to 1:30 p.m. The story is “Moe the Dog in Tropical Paradise” by Diane Stanley. The event is for preschool-aged children and older.
A boys craft will be Jan. 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. for boys in the first grade and older. Participants will learn to make animal balloons. Call the library at (260) 463-2841 to register.
A stroke support group will meet Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Parkview LaGrange Hospital in the activities room. This support group is open to patients, families, friends and caregivers of those suffering from the effects of a stroke or other debilitating muscle or brain damage.
