Participants in the third annual Center for Healing and Hope Bike-A-Thon will have a new, longer route to choose from.

The event, planned for June 2, will feature a six-mile fun ride, a 25-mile ride and a new 40-mile ride.

All rides begin at the center, 423 E. Jefferson St., Goshen, with registration starting at 7 a.m.

The six-mile ride departs at 8:30 a.m. and will include the Pumpkinvine Trail northeast of Goshen.

The 25- and 40-mile rides depart at 8 a.m. and include scenic routes through Elkhart County.

Riders are asked to obtain pledges of $20 for each ride (or pay the $20 registration fee.) Registration will be accepted the day of the event.

Proceeds will benefit the center, which is a faith-based medical facility serving people in the greater Goshen area who are uninsured or underinsured.

The agency serves more than 3,000 patients in Goshen and Elkhart per year (40 percent are children.)

Donations provide the majority of the funding for the center, and in 2006, more than 200 volunteers staffed the facility.

Participants may pick up a pledge form at the center, at Lincoln Avenue Cycling and Fitness, 430 W. Lincoln Ave., or Family Bicycle Center, 340 S. Main St., Elkhart.
