GARY, Ind. (AP) — Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson is scheduled to announce a new economic development plan for an area of the city known as University Park near the Indiana University Northwest campus.
Officials from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and representatives from banking institutions are scheduled to take a tour of the area, which also includes Ivy Tech's Gary campus.
City officials have been working to create a university village-type atmosphere around the IU Northwest and Ivy Tech campuses as a way to spur economic development.
