Driver killed in Ind. 13 crash

SYRACUSE, Ind. — Kosciusko County sheriff’s officers were called to a fatal crash at Ind. 13 near South Shore Drive at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday.

A 1994 GMC van driven by Charles F. Robinson, 31, of Pierceton, was southbound on Ind. 13. Robinson drifted across the center line, colliding with a 2007 GMC pickup truck, driven by Richard L. Shanahan, 70, also from the Pierceton area, police said.

Shanahan was transported to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, by Samaritan Air Ambulance. He was listed in serious condition at Parkview this morning.

Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County coroner.

There was also a young child in the van driven by Robinson who was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. She was treated and released.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Syracuse police and fire departments, Syracuse and North Webster EMS, Samaritan Air Ambulance and the Kosciusko County FACT Team.
