Russell B. Owens, 82, 2011 Bashor Road, Goshen, died Monday at 11:30 p.m. at Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Elkhart.

He was born June 4, 1927 in Goshen, to Marion and Eunice (Shoup) Owens. He spent most of life in the area.

He graduated from Goshen High School with the class of 1945 and attended Elkhart Business College. He served in the United States Marine Corps August 1945 to August 1946.

He worked with General Motor Corp. for more than 50 years as a service manager in Indiana, Colorado and Arizona. During that period he also served on the Goshen Police Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post 143 in Bristol and DAV Post 15 in Goshen.

He married Phyllis Curtland Sept. 11, 1964, in Goshen. She survives.

Also surviving are children, Mike (Mary) Owens, Laguna Hills, Calif., Richard “Rick” Neumann and Jessica (Bobby Rias) Holler, both of Goshen, Michael (Shiela) Neumann, Kingman, Ariz., Rhonda (Lloyd) LeCount and Susan Neumann Rutley, both of Goshen, Jeff (Vickie) Owens, Warsaw, and Jennifer (Tripp) Starnes, Bonita Springs, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a funeral service with military honors will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. Tonda Martin, chaplain at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Elkhart, will lead the service.

Burial will be at a later date in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
