SHIPSHEWANA — Elmer J. Miller, 83, died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at his residence.
He was born on May 3, 1930 in Elkhart County, to Joseph J. and Amanda (Hershberger) Miller.
On Dec. 15, 1955, he married Ida J. Slabaugh, who survives. Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Nora (Sam) Brandenberger of Wolcottville and Etta (Amos) Glick of Shipshewana; three sons, Harlan (Ruby) Miller of Shipshewana, Wayne Lee Miller of Niles, Mich., and Vernon (Luanne) Miller of Shipshewana; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jake (Dorothy) Miller of White Pigeon, Mich. and Samuel Miller of Sheridan, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth; three sisters, Anna, Katie and Ida; and two brothers, Jonas and Joseph.
He was a carpenter and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Friends may call all day today at the Amos Glick residence, 6985 W. 100 North, Shipshewana.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Harley Bender residence, 7060 W. 100 North, Shipshewana. Services will be conducted by Bishop Gerald Troyer and the home ministers.
Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.
