Mary E. Ludwick

May 22, 1932-Aug. 22, 2013

WAKARUSA — Mary E. Ludwick, 81, died after a six-month illness Thursday at 11:03 p.m. at South Bend Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for one week. On the day of her peaceful promotion to Heaven to be with her Savior Jesus Christ forever, she was surrounded by her loving family singing Christian songs.

She was born on May 22, 1932 in Nappanee, to Marvin and Cora (Gall) Golden.

She married Forrest L. Ludwick Feb. 24, 1950, at the Wakarusa Missionary Church. Mary and Forrest were faithfully married for 63 years. He survives along with two sons, Bradley Ludwick of Agoura Hills, Calif., and Craig Ludwick of San Diego, Calif.; and a daughter, Tina (Phil) Marsh of Elkhart; four grandchildren, David G. Ludwick of Golden, Colo., Jillian Marsh of Atlanta, Ga., Allison Marsh of Mishawaka and Stephanie Marsh of Elkhart; and two sisters, Elsie (Eldon) Mast and Naomi (the Rev. Floran) Mast, both of Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Orlan, Edward, Arthur and Jacob Golden; and three sisters, Loella Ummel, Sylvia Truex and Bessie Wise.

Mary was a member of the Wakarusa Missionary Church. She was also a member of the Progressive Homemakers Club.  From musicians to missionaries to large family gatherings, Mary used her gift of hospitality to make all feel comfortable, well fed and at home. She also enjoyed flowers, a small garden, outdoor picnics and her family.

Family and friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Wakarusa and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service Tuesday at Wakarusa Missionary Church. The Rev. Rob Dauber of the church will officiate. He will be assisted by the Rev. Floran Mast, Mary’s brother-in-law.

Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Wakarusa Missionary Church.
