GOSHEN — John P. Moran, 78, died Tuesday at 6:39 p.m. at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Oct. 4, 1935 in Elkhart, to Walter J. and Mary E. (Parcell) Moran.
He married Retha Patrick June 6, 1959, in Dayton, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife; sons, John Moran II, Barrington, Ill., and James (Josephina) Moran, Lima, Ohio; daughter, Helen (Daniel) Travis, Marshall, Mich.; sister, Beth (Lloyd) Noaker, Wakarusa; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Patrick J. Moran.
He was a member of New Paris Missionary Church.
He graduated from Bethel College in 1959. He was a former national president of the Missionary Church denomination, a former pastor of various Missionary churches including Zion and New Paris Missionary Churches, and was a missionary to Nigeria, West Africa.
Visitation will take place Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday at Nappanee Missionary Church, 70417 Ind. 19, Nappanee. The Revs. Jack French and David Hackney will officiate.
Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
