Ella Mae Stutsman


— GOSHEN — Ella Mae Stutsman, 86, died Monday at 4:30 a.m. at her residence.

She was born May 14, 1927, in Elkhart, to Kenneth and Mildred (Noss) Rinehart.

She married Benjamin Stutsman Aug. 17, 1947. He died April 10, 2006.

She is survived by her four daughters, Marcia (John) Gard, Elkhart, Karen Jewell, Millersburg, Sharon (Dan) Sickels, Portland, and Anne (Norm Hostetler) Miller, Goshen; two sons, Edward (Becky) Stutsman, New Paris, and Dale Stutsman, Goshen; a brother, Donald (Mary) Rinehart, Elkhart; sister, Barbara Watkins, Elkhart; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Kenneth Rinehart Jr. and Dennis Rinehart; and a son-in-law, Hoyte “Buck” Jewell.

She graduated from Concord High School and worked as a telephone operator in Dunlap from 1946 to 1958.

She was a homemaker and a member of West Goshen Church of the Brethren, where she served as a lifetime deacon and taught second-grade Sunday school for more than 30 years.

Visitation will take place Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Friday at West Goshen Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Norman Replogle will officiate.

Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery.
