Kay R. Shearer, 76, passed away Tuesday at Parkview Noble Hospital.
She was born on April 1, 1936 in Wolf Lake, to Bruce and Ruth (Knox) Taylor. She married Douglas Shearer Feb. 17, 1951, in Ligonier. He preceded her in death June 7, 2003.
She is survived by four sons and a daughter, Michael E. (Cheri) Shearer, Mark D. (Kimberly) Shearer, Martin J. (Kathy) Shearer, Mitchell E. (Linda) Shearer and Becky R. (Oscar) Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers and a sister, Tom (Diane) Taylor, Kent (Jackie) Taylor, Tim (Kim) Taylor and Nancy Donat.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda K. Wilson.
She belonged to the Eagles Auxiliary, the Ligonier Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Ligonier Historical Society. She was an avid bowler and card player. She was the former owner of Shearer’s Ceramics Studio in Ligonier. She was an antique dealer for many years. She loved to collect and paint dolls, pictures or just about anything.
A funeral service in her honor will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier. The Rev. Dr. Greggory Lanzen of First Baptist Church of Goshen will officiate.
Burial will follow the service at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.
Friends may call Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
