TOPEKA — Thomas Rollin Yoder, 69, of Topeka, Ind., died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his residence.
On Nov. 7, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Mich., he was born to Marion H. and Mary E. (Moran) Yoder. They preceded him in death.
Mr. Yoder was a humanitarian and a scholar, and lived most of his life in LaGrange County. He retired from Tenneco Corp. in Ligonier as a welder. Mr. Yoder served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
On Sept. 22, 1990, in Wolcottville, Ind., he married Kimberly M. Zook. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter and her life partner, Marian Camille Yoder and Jacob Adams of Evansville, Ind.; a son, Noah Thomas Yoder of Topeka, Ind.; a sister and brother-in-law, Jane Ann and Pat Driscoll of San Francisco, Calif.; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles E. Yoder of St. Simons Island, Ga., and Patrick and Judy Yoder of Suttons Bay, Mich.
A celebration of Thomas’ life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at David Rogers Memorial Park, 2355 W. 550 South, Wolcottville, Ind. Military rites will begin the celebration at 1 p.m. and will be conducted by the LaGrange American Legion Post #215.
The family has requested that casual dress be worn as they will be playing softball in his memory.
