Eloise Meeks, 92, died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday at Heritage House in Nappanee, where she resided.
She was born March 2, 1920 in Goshen, to Frank and Bertha (Hoshaw) Method. She grew up in the New Paris-Goshen area. After graduating from New Paris High School, she moved to Hollywood, Calif. It was there that she met her future husband, Vern, who was in the Navy. She married Vern Meeks Dec. 29, 1946, at the Methodist Church in Nappanee. After marriage they lived in the Carolinas, then moved to Nappanee in 1952.
Mrs. Meeks was a member of the Nappanee United Methodist Church, the Thursday Club and DAR. She enjoyed home decorating.
She is survived by her husband, Vern Meeks; daughter, Melissa (Harry Stackhouse) Meeks of Indianapolis; and a sister, Bertha Parker of Nappanee.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melodee Meeks Rosen; three sisters, Dorothy Stahly, Delva Stahly and Faye Kaufman; and five brothers, Frank, Guy, Glen, Russell and Floyd Method.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee and also one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Nappanee United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Baintertown Cemetery in New Paris.
