TOPEKA — Perry Jay Lehman, 80, died Sunday at 1:50 a.m. at his residence.
He was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Topeka, to Erwin J. and Polly (Miller) Lehman. On Nov. 23, 1961, he married Ida Mae Bontrager. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Mary Ruth (Stewart) Hochstetler, Goshen, Carolyn (Morris) Yoder, Nappanee, Norma (Arlin) Miller, Middlebury, and Velda (Matt) Eash, Goshen; seven sons, Marion (Deb) Lehman, Goshen, Marlin (Norma) Lehman, Millersburg, LaVerne (Mary) Lehman, Goshen, Wilbur “Willie” (Deb) Lehman, Nappanee, Ervin (Ruth) Lehman. Topeka, Maynard Lehman, Shipshewana, and Leon Lehman, Shipshewana; 39 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Katie (Noah) Miller, Topeka, Ella (Ora) Miller, Topeka, and Elsie (Orva) Bontrager, Shipshewana; and an aunt, Ella Miller, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church, serving as a Deacon since Oct. 21, 1978. He was a farmer, worked at Topeka Livestock and at HWI Do It Best in Topeka.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today and all day Tuesday at the family residence, 7685 W. 700 South, Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday February at the Nelson Schlabach residence, 6810 S. Ind. 5, Topeka. Services will be conducted by Bishop Wayne Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.
