NEW PARIS — Mary Lucille Johnson, 97, died Monday at 10:38 p.m. at Greencroft Goshen Health Care.
She was born May 11, 1916 in Union Township, to Edward and Elizabeth (Sheets) Pippenger.
She married John H. Johnson Oct. 19, 1934. He died Jan. 3, 1978.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Janet) Johnson, New Paris; grandchildren, Craig (Lisa) Johnson, New Paris, Tambra (Steve) O’Brien, Plainfield, and Tim (Susan) Johnson, Brownsburg; great-grandchildren, Stephanie (Chad) Miller, Phillip (Karen) Johnson, Doug O’Brien, Kayla O’Brien, Kyle Johnson and Rachel Johnson; and a great-great grandchild, Joya Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Sylvia Hollar, Surelda Harter, Marie Geyer and Anna Mellinger; and brothers, John Pippenger, Stanley Pippenger and Howard Pippenger.
She was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren in New Paris, but recently had been attending Grace United Methodist Church, New Paris. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking; she was a great baker. She loved spending time with all of her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. The Rev. Rob Nelson of Grace United Methodist Church, New Paris, will officiate.
Burial will be at New Paris Cemetery.
