Jane Ellen Miller

ELKHART — Jane Ellen Miller, 66, died at 4:26 p.m. Thursday at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born Oct. 25, 1947 in Elkhart, to Adam and Florence (Nusbaum) Kwilinski.

On Jan. 3, 1966 in Bristol, she married Pete Miller, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Rodney (Danielle) Miller of Nappanee, Stacy Miller of Middlebury and Todd Miller of Elkhart; daughter, Trina (Tim) Lester of Middlebury; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Ella (Jim) Phillips of Indianapolis; three brothers, Edward (Marlena) Kwilinski of Middlebury, Chuck (Sally) Kwilinski of Goshen and Robert (Denise) Kwilinski of Jacksonville, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Adam Kwilinski Jr.; sister, Laura Kwilinski; and a grandson, Adam Brown.

Jane was a beautician having worked at Irene’s Beauty Salon in Middlebury and later at Michael’s Salon in Elkhart. She loved to travel, spend time with her family and friends and play Poker Stars on the computer with her son Todd.

Visitation took place from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury.

Funeral services have been postponed until 11 a.m. Tuesday unless Elkhart County is under a snow emergency. In case of a snow emergency, the funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral. home. The Rev. Sam Troyer will conduct the services.

Memorial gifts may be given to Middlebury Food Pantry.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
