Walter I. Hartman

ELKHART — Walter I. Hartman, 87, went to be with the Lord Tuesday night.
He was born in Wakarusa Sept. 29, 1926, to Raymond and Elva (Martin) Hartman.
He is survived by his wife, June (Fisher) Hartman; children, Brent (Karin) and Greg (Bethany), both of Elkhart, Karen (Marvin) Metzler of Union, Mich., Debbie (Dale) Bozell of Brownsburg, and Roger (Lynn) of Osceola; 19 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lois (Lewis) Miller of Rome City.
Walt was an active member at Beulah Missionary Church, where he served on the board of trustees and as an usher. He was a volunteer driver who delivered mobile meals for the Salvation Army and a former member of the Noon Exchange Club. He spent the majority of his career as a car salesman and new car sales manager in Elkhart.
Walt was a devoted husband and loving father who took pleasure in spending time with his family. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing croquet with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Beulah Missionary Church.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Beulah Missionary Church, 57595 Old C.R. 17, Goshen.
