ELKHART — Jose M. Rico, 79, was found at his home on Friday.
He was born May 21, 1934 in Bogota, Columbia, South America.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Bradley) Rico-Fisher of Bristol and Esperanza “Hope” (Larry) Lehman of Goshen; three grandchildren, Jessica Rico, Justin (Nicole) Lehman and Robby Lehman; a great-grandchild, Rivers Lehman; and his former wife, Ana Rico of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Luis Nino Rico.
Jose attended Cummins Diesel mechanic school in Collins, Mich. He enjoyed watching car races especially the Indiana 500, watching football, collecting model trains and traveling. He also loved to ride his bicycle. He was a member of the FOP Auxiliary. Jose retired in 2010 from Niblock Machinery where he worked for more than 30 years as a diesel mechanic.
There will be two hours of visitation for family and friends prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service Friday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart. The Rev. Matthew Coonan of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will preside.
Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
