SHIPSHEWANA — Andrew B. Raber, 92 died at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday at Life Care Center, LaGrange.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1921 in LaGrange County, to Benjamin and Anna (Lehman) Raber.
On Nov. 23, 1944, he married Alta Farmwald in Shipshewana. She died May 1, 1999.
He is survived by two daughters, Anna Fern (Amos) Hochstetler of Howe and Sue Ellen Raber of LaGrange; three sons, LaVern (Leona) Raber of Shipshewana, Wilbur (Esther) Raber of Ligonier and Harvey (Mary) Raber of Millersburg; 35 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Raber and Soloma Raber both of Topeka; and a brother, Joni (Fannie Mae) Raber of Middlebury.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Abigail Bontager and Mattie Raber; and three brothers, Abraham Raber, Moses Raber and John Raber.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church who became an ordained minister in 1956. He worked as a farmer and a blacksmith.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday and all day Friday at the Steve Raber residence, 5980 W. 200 North, Shipshewana, where funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Bishop Menno Petersheim and the home ministers will conduct the services.
Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.
