David Lee Miller

MIDDLEBURY — David Lee Miller, 69, died at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday at his residence.

He was born May 20, 1942 in Goshen, to Eli D. and Elsie (Lambright) Miller. On Nov. 3, 1963, he married Lillian Schrock in Middlebury. She died Feb. 23, 2003.

On Aug. 14, 2004, he married Susan Frye in Goshen. She survives.

Survivors in addition to his wife are three sons, Jeryl (Kim) Miller of Goshen, Darrin (Caryn) Miller of Nappanee, and Sherlin (Janelle) Miller of Middlebury; five grandchildren, Tyler, Josh, Brooke, Carson and Preston Miller; four sisters, Ruth Miller of Goshen, Verna Miller of Palmyra, Pa., Miriam (Walter) Bontrager of Middlebury, and Lois (Michael) Miller of Partridge, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and his parents.

He was a member of Townline Mennonite Church, where he served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and lay leader. He had a passion for music and was part of the Living Faith Quartet. Throughout the years he attended thousands of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, rarely missing an event. He enjoyed working outside, which was evident by his beautiful yard. He worked in purchasing and receiving at Schult/Crest Homes in Middlebury for 42 years and retired in 2010.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Townline Mennonite Church, Shipshewana. The Revs. Mel Eash and Andy Eversole will conduct the service.

Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Shipshewana.
