Sarah Mae Miller, 92, 1225 Greencroft Drive, Goshen, died Wednesday at 3:32 a.m. at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. She lived at Greencroft since Feb. 1, 2002.

She was born Jan. 2, 1918 in Nappanee, to Jonathan and Lucy (Kauffman) Mast. She came to the area from Ohio in 1950. She was a homemaker and a member of Reason Enough to Act — Sarah’s House.

She married Eli L. Miller in Uniontown, Ohio, Jan. 18, 1944. He died March 14, 1984.

She is survived by her three daughters, Erma Humes, Mary (David) Piehl and Martha (Dennis) Ganger, all of Goshen; three sons, Marvin (Violet) Miller, Colorado Springs, Colo., Leroy (Marjorie) Miller, Goshen, and Paul (Debra) Miller, Elkhart; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Lawson, Niles, Mich., and Verna Newton, Elkhart; four brothers, Elmer Mast, Mishawaka, Rueben Mast, South Bend, Irvin Mast, Geneva, and Chester Mast, Nappanee.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Edna Wittmer, Louella Ganton, Viola Hill, Clara Bontrager and Leona Lengacher; and two brothers, Emery and Christ Mast.

Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Meetinghouse at Greencroft, Goshen, where the funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with calling one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Ron Diener of Pleasant View Mennonite Church and the Rev. Craig Garber of Christian Fellowship of Goshen will officiate.

Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marvin Miller, Leroy Miller, Paul Miller, Dennis Ganger, Richard Humes and Kirk Miller. David Piehl will be an honorary pallbearer.

Memorial donations may be made to Goshen Care at Home Hospice and RETA.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
