GOSHEN — Elson “Bud” Abbott 82, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning at Eastlake Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart.
He was born Aug. 18, 1930 in Reading, Mich., to Benjamin F. and Gladys (Childs) Abbott.
On Oct. 18, 1954, he married Emojean Felker in Arlington, Va.
Bud is survived by his wife; a daughter, Carin Jones, Goshen; son, Brett Abbott, Goshen; three sisters, Irene Baker, Montpelier, Ohio, Arlene Markle, Mesa, Ariz., and Valeda Myers, St. Angelo, Texas; and a brother, Kenneth (Alice) Abbott, Galesburg, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Baker; and a brother, Floyd Abbott.
A local resident since 1981, he worked in the printing industry as a lithographer, most recently with Barger Packaging, Elkhart. Bud raised quarter horses, and enjoyed any outdoor activity. You could count on him to be tinkering with all different kinds of projects.
He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served from 1951-1953.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a funeral service will take place Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Terry Tyler of Grace Point Church in Nappanee will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
