Ernest J. Miller, 93, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday at his residence. He was born on March 20, 1919 in LaGrange, to Irwin J. and Mabel (Yoder) Miller.
On Sept. 28, 1940, he married Ruth Kathryn Mishler in Shipshewana. She died April 24, 2011.
Surviving are two sons, Dewayne J. (Linda) Miller of Middlebury, Gerald Keith Miller of Chandler, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Miller of Goshen; four sisters, Waneta Miller of Shipshewana, Betty (Vernon) Roth of Breslau, Canada, Sue Ann Byler of Goshen, Joann Buerge of Indianapolis; three brothers, Richard Miller of Engadine, Mich., Kenneth (Bertha) Miller of Goshen, James (Barbara) Miller of Shipshewana; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; sons, Franklin J. Miller, Ralph Edward Miller and Dennis Kalb Miller; a daughter, Jennifer Kay Miller; his parents; and his stepmother, Mildred (Yoder) Miller.
He was a farmer and a member of Shore Mennonite Church. He worked as a salesman for DeKalb Seed for 22 years.
There will be a time of visitation Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Shore Mennonite Church, 7235 W. 100 North, Shipshewana, where funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Carl Horner will officiate.
Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
