GOSHEN — Samuel Igney, 58, passed away Saturday evening at Hospice House of Elkhart.

He was born May 5, 1954, in Goshen, to Thurl Dale and Bettie Jean Igney.

They survive along with two sons, Todd (Jennifer) Igney, Goshen, and Troy (Shannon) Igney, St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren, Frances and Martin Igney and Tyse, Kayleena and Reese Igney; his girlfriend, Nancy; two brothers, Thurl Dale “T.D.” (Angie) Jr., Mokena, Ill., and Mark (Sue) Igney, Westfield; three sisters, Laura Stout, Brianna (Bob) Rainbolt and Sheila (James) Brown, all of Elkhart; and former wife, Barbara Igney, Goshen.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly, Feb. 27, 1999.

The owner of Rite-Way Steel, Sam was a member of Maplecrest Country Club and loved to golf. He also enjoyed NASCAR.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.

There will be no public funeral service and cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be given to Boys & Girls Club of Goshen.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
