Charles Leonard Miller, 88, South 27th Street, died Monday at 12:30 a.m. at Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen.
He was born Dec. 4, 1924 in Wakarusa, to Daniel W. and Mary (Strong) Miller Stroup.
He married Norma R. Juday May 8, 1949, in Benton. She died Dec. 3, 2012.
He is survived by his daughters, Carol J. (Norman) Goff and Elizabeth “Liz” C. (David) Silcox, both of Goshen; sons, Leonard R. (Imelda) Miller, Goshen, Herman E. (Linda) Miller, Syracuse, and Charles D. Miller, Goshen; brother, Russell (Frances) Miller, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Gloria Miller, who died in 1958; brother, Clyde Miller; and two sisters, Maxine Miller and Frances McBride.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served during World War II, discharged in 1946. He worked at Home Lumber Company/New Paris Lumber, where he retired after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church, Goshen, and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 985 in Goshen.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where a funeral service will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jim Hostetler and grandson, Rodney Silcox, will officiate.
Burial will be in Solomon Creek Cemetery.
