Donn Bates Neff

GOSHEN — Donn Bates Neff, 73, died unexpectedly at his home early Thursday morning.

He was born Jan. 1, 1940 in Goshen, to Lawrence Fred and Margaret (Bates) Neff.

In Muskogee, Okla. June 28, 1970, he married Artis Lovita Underwood, the love of his life for 47 years.

He is survived by three children, Sue (Dan) Buzzard, Goshen, Diane (Jim) Wendling, Wichita, Kan., and Donn B. (Kim) Neff II, New Paris; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue (Kenton) Holdeman and Mary Ann (Marvin) Lampley, both of Goshen; and two brothers, Richard (Linda) Neff and Dale Neff, both of Syracuse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, who died May 6, 2011; and a granddaughter, Aubrey Thompson.

More than anything else, he enjoyed spending time with his family and reading Western novels.

He had worked as a diesel mechanic at Omni Source.

No services are planned. His body will be cremated by Yoder-Culp Crematory.

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
