Jonas O. Miller

SHIPSHEWANA — Jonas O. Miller, 78, died at 12:48 am on Monday at his residence. He had been in declining health the past year and a half.

He was born Sept. 24, 1934 in Goshen, to Joseph and Amanda (Hershberger) Miller.

On Dec. 11, 1958 in Nappanee he married Mabel Helmuth, she survives.

Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Darlene (Vernon) Miller, Shipshewana, Miriam (Dennis) Miller, Tuscola, Ill.; three sons, Galen (Rosanna) Miller, Millersburg, Marion (Ruby) Miller, LaGrange, Floyd (Julia) Miller, Milford; 29 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; step sister, Lydia Ann Eash, Sarasota, Fla.; three brothers, Elmer (Ida) Miller, Shipshewana, Jacob (Dorothy) Miller, White Pigeon, Mich., Sam Miller, Sheridan, Wyo.; two step brothers, Ervin (Lizzie) Nisley, Topeka, Olen (Katie) Nisley, Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Joas Lynn Miller and Mathew Jon Miller; three sisters, Annie Miller, Katie Lambright and Ida Miller; brother, Joseph Miller; four infant brothers; step sister, Anna Mae Eash; and two step brothers, Jonas Nisley and Daniel Nisley.

He was a farmer, carpenter doing construction and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today and all day Wednesday at the family’s residence, 1080 N. 1100 West, Shipshewana.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the family’s residence. Services will be conducted by Bishops Ernie Troyer and Daniel Yoder and the home ministers.

Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is handling arrangements.

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
