Katelyn Marie O’Grady

March 18, 1992-June 16, 2013

GOSHEN — Katelyn Marie O’Grady, 21, died at her home Sunday evening.

She was born March 18, 1992, in Detroit, Mich., to James O’Grady and Marnee Fleming.

She is survived by her parents, James and Abby O’Grady, Goshen; five siblings, Nicole Pletz, Washington, Kelly Ewin, Evansville, James and Danielle Horn and Emma O’Grady, all at home; grandmother, Jane Lynch, Goshen, grandfather, Doug West, Goshen; great-grandmother, Oveda Fleming, Taylor, Mich., and boyfriend, Jacob Moreland, Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marnee Fleming, who died in 2003, and other grandparents.

A 2011 graduate of Goshen High School, Katelyn struggled her whole life with cystic fibrosis but was always brave and courageous.  She worried more about others than herself.  Everyone who knew her loved her.  Her fierce attitude kept her going.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the 7:30 p.m. Rosary service and one hour prior to the 11:30 a.m. funeral service Thursday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Larry Rice, spiritual care counselor of Center for Hospice Care, will officiate.

Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorial contributions may be made to Katelyn O’Grady Benefit Fund at Key Bank, Goshen.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
