MIDDLEBURY, Ind. — Mary A. Lehman, 84, 2355 N. 1150 West, died today at her home.

She was born June 24, 1922, in Nappanee, to Andrew L. and Anna (Borkholder) Miller.

She married Daniel J. Lehman Oct. 21, 1943. He died Nov. 21, 1967.

She was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church.

She is survived by eight sons, Andrew (Mary) Lehman, Jacob (Ida Mae) Lehman and William (Lorene) Lehman, all of Middlebury, Harley (Lizzie) Lehman and Walter (Esther) Lehman, both of Millersburg, Ora (Lorene) Lehman, Goshen, Henry (Katie) Lehman, Rosebush, Mich., and Samuel (Lisa) Lehman, Shipshewana; two daughters, Barbara (Ura) Hochstetler, Holland, Mich., and Katie Ann (David C.) Yoder, Clare, Mich.; 61 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Miller, Shipshewana, Emma Hochstetler, LaGrange, and Sarah (William) Miller, Shipshewana; and two brothers, Jacob Miller and Simon Miller, both of Nappanee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Joe Lehman; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katie Kemp and Mattie Miller; and a half brother, Ray Miller.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today and all day Tuesday at the family residence.

Services are set for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Ralph Bontrager residence. Bishop Sam Bontrager and the Home Ministers will officiate.

Burial will be in Mast Cemetery, Middlebury.

Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is in charge of arrangements.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
