Francis J. Coyne

— GOSHEN — Francis J. Coyne, 86, died Friday at 12:27 a.m. at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

He was born Jan. 3, 1927, in New Bedford, Mass., to the late Patrick J. and Julia “Daley” Coyne.

On June 21, 1952, in Ann Arbor, Mich., he married Mauveen McKenty. She died June 10, 2010.

Surviving are one daughter; Martha (Larry) Clipp, Seymour, Ill.; five sons, Patrich M. (Barbara) Coyne, Rialto, Calf., David G. (Laura) Coyne, Goshen, Christopher P. (Vickie) Coyne, Goshen, Daniel S. (Emily) Coyne, Evanston, Ill., and Stephen J. Coyne, Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Connor and Gertrude Bellavance, both of New Bedford, Mass.; and one brother, John F. (Eileen) Coyne, Fairhaven, Mass.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Catherine Fitzgerald; and a brother, Edmond “Pat” Coyne.

Mr. Coyne was an accountant. He was the cost accounting manager at Kaiser Jeep Corp. He also owned and operated Old Father Canoe Renal on the Elkhart River. He had also worked in Sturgis, Mich., at Marvel Industries as treasurer and at Goshen Rubber as a cost estimator. He was also the director of finance at Starr Commonwealth and controller for Instamatic Crop.

He belonged to the Goshen Lions Club, Friends of the Library, Christian Family Movement, Exchange Club, Toastmasters and was on the board of the National Association of Investor’s Club.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and on Thursday for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen. Rev. Father Tony Steinacker will officiate.

Cremation will follow the service and burial of Francis’ cremated remains will be at 11 a.m. Friday at West Goshen Cemetery. Members of the Goshen Honor Guard will honor Mr. Coyne’s military service at the graveside service. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Fleet.
