TOPEKA — Meredeth Ann Wittrig, 79, died Saturday at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
Mrs. Wittrig was born Nov. 4, 1933 in Middlebury, to Samuel and Ellen (Gardner) Miller.
Meredeth moved to Topeka in 2001 from Naples, Fla. She was an elementary teacher for many years with Otsego Schools in Otsego, Mich.
Meredeth was a member of the Topeka Mennonite Church and served the church in many different ways. She was mom and grandma to many and had been a foster parent to 20 children throughout her life.
On July 11, 1954, she married Donald J. Wittrig in Kouts. He preceded her in death Oct. 12, 2012.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Dee Wittrig of Topeka; two daughters, Christine Wittrig of Topeka and Carla Davis of Naples, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Wendy (Larry) Rex of LaGrange, Cassidy (Jason) Lewallen of Spring Hill, Fla., Jake (Sabrina) Lawrence, Bobby Lawrence and Jami Lawrence all of Columbus, Neb., and Natasha and Chad Weber of Naples, Fla.; 12 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kira, Marlee, Linken, Adirah, Jonathan, Noah, Owen, Remi, Brayden, Kaydence and Celine; a brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Sue Miller of Hobart; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pat Nisley of Valparaiso and Eleanor and Sam Koehler of Spring Valley, Minn.
Her parents, a granddaughter, Melissa Julian, and a son-in-law, Michael Davis, preceded her in death.
Friends may call two hours prior to the 3 p.m. memorial service June 15 at Topeka Mennonite Church. The Rev. Robert Martz will officiate the service.
