Mary M. Steele

LIGONIER — Mary M. Steele, 59, passed away Sunday.

She was born Feb. 14, 1954, to Junis T. and Helen (Brickey) Steele in Norton, Va.

Ms. Steele was a member of the Apostolic Church in Ligonier and enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing games on the computer. She was an avid Michigan and Cubs fan. Family was important to Mary and she enjoyed her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by four brothers, Glen (Flo) Steele of Ligonier, Gary (Karla) Steele of Kimmell, Randy Steele of Ligonier, and Kevin (Cindy Staton) Steele of Albion; sister-in-law, Rita Steele of Kimmell; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas; great niece, Leah; and sister-in-law, Lisa.

There will be a time of visitation today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. The Rev. Joseph Brickey will officiate.

Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
