Betty J. Herendeen

GOSHEN — Betty J. Herendeen, 85, Greencroft Goshen Health Care, died Wednesday at her residence.

She was born in Goshen Aug. 24, 1928, to Noah and Minnie (Holderbaum) Leinbach.

She married Donald R. Herendeen April 22, 1950. He died April 7, 2008.

She is survived by her daughter, Viki (Rick) Pharis, Goshen; two sons, Steven (Ann) Herendeen and David (Cindy) Herendeen, both of Goshen; two stepsisters, Gladys (Mose) Mast and Mary Louise Kalbfleish, both of Goshen; stepbrother, Lowell Mumaw, Goshen; two half brothers, Gerald (Lois) Leinbach, Hesston, Kan., and Russell (Sally) Leinbach, Paoli; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Maurice Leinbach, infant Howard Leinbach, J.R. Leinbach, Kenneth Leinbach and Lloyd Leinbach; four sisters, Catherine Walter, Fern Yontz, Louida Mishler and Irma Shank; and her stepmother, Martha Mumaw.

She worked at Penn Controls, Miles Laboratories, Chicago Telephone Supply (CTS) and retired in 1992 from Whitehall Laboratories, Elkhart, after more than 35 years of service.

She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Goshen, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 985 Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Post 15 Auxiliary and a former member of the Goshen Moose Lodge.

Friends may call Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. service Sunday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. The Rev. Steve Leinbach will officiate.

Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Monday at West Goshen Cemetery.
