Lori Ann Kramer

Dec. 28, 1962-April 3, 2013

BRISTOL — Lori Ann Kramer, 50, of Bristol, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Lori was born Dec. 28, 1962, in Elkhart to Wayne Eugene and Delores May (Wegner) Scherer.

She married Matthew David Kramer on Oct. 6, 1990. He survives along with children, Gabrielle Shari Kramer and Brandon Matthew Kramer, both of Bristol. She had three brothers, Michael (Kathleen) Scherer of Bristol, Terry Scherer of Fort Wayne and William (Pam) Scherer of Syracuse. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A lifelong resident of Elkhart County, Lori attended and graduated from Concord Community Schools in 1981. While in high school, she was a member of the tennis team, was active in varsity cheerleading, was a member of her Senior Homecoming Court, and held the office of Vice President of her senior class. After graduation, she attended Purdue University, where she was on the Freshman Class Council, and ultimately graduated with her bachelor’s in education in 1986. Her degree enabled her to work with special needs children, and she later continued her academic studies in physical therapy.

Lori’s love of children and education motivated her and her husband to choose a more traditional way of raising their children, with Lori leaving the workforce to become a full-time mother. She encouraged her children in all types of school sports, and was instrumental in them defining their strengths. She was present at numerous sports events, games and school activities.

She was a devoted wife and mother and an avid photographer and homemaker. The happiest moments of her life were spent with her family, both immediate and far-reaching. Even after battling cancer at an early school age and occasionally throughout her adult life, Lori never held back on life.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bristol on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 12 p.m. (noon). Father Robert VanKempen will officiate.

Online condolences may be sent at www.hartzlergutermuthinman.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be given to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
