SYRACUSE — Kathleen “Kate” Mock, 87, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Monday at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.

She was born Sept. 29, 1926 near Syracuse, to Byron and Ethel (Wilkinson) Grubb.

She was a lifetime Syracuse area resident, graduated in 1945 from Syracuse High School and received an associate’s degree from International Business College in Fort Wayne.

She was married Sept. 9, 1945 in Milford to Ryland R. Mock, who preceded her in death Sept. 17, 1986.

She retired in 2007 from Key Bank after more than 40 years of service.

She was a member of the North Webster Church of the Brethren and a former member of Red Hat Society in Syracuse, Hex Rural Extension Homemakers Club in Syracuse and the Hi Neighbor Club.

She is survived by her son, Phillip “Phil” (Annette) Mock of Syracuse; daughter, LuAnn Mock (Henry Skinner), Empire, Colo.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Cora Belle Grubb of Elkhart and Mary Mock of Syracuse.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Daniel “Diz” Mock; two grandsons, Zachery Mock and Seth Newman; brother, Edwin Grubb; and sister, Mary Alice Tusing.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at North Webster Church of the Brethren, 7281 E. 600 North, North Webster, with the Rev. Robert Wyman of the church officiating.

Burial will follow at Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequests may be given to North Webster Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 391, North Webster, IN 46555; Goshen Care at Home Hospice, P.O. Box 723, Goshen, IN 46526; or Goshen Center for Cancer Care, 200 High Park, Goshen, IN 46526. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
