GOSHEN — Mary F. Adams, 97, died at her daughter’s home, early Wednesday morning. She had been in declining health the past 15 months.
She was born July 29, 1916 in Kosciusko County, to Howard and Gertrude (Leech) Ball.
On Oct. 20, 1934, she married Leo W. Adams. He died in 1996.
She farmed with her husband for 45 years near Akron. She was a champion quilter and seamstress, winning many awards locally and statewide. She exhibited the Indiana State Fair sweepstakes quilt in 1985 and the Elkhart County sweepstakes quilt in 1996. She also did various other handwork, enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Most of all, she loved and enjoyed her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Leslie) Haney, Goshen; two sons, Howard (Kathy), Houston, Texas, and Thomas (Beckie) Adams, Yorktown; a daughter-in-law, Paula Adams, Jimtown; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Donald; a granddaughter, Beth Ann Adams; and two sisters, Beatrice Griffith and Florence Smith.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Pastoral Assistant Pamela Kling of First United Methodist Church of Goshen will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jeff, Derek and Matt Adams, Eric Brookins and Steve and Dan Haney.
Burial will follow at Akron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Ronald McDonald House, Indianapolis, Goshen Care at Home Hospice or First United Methodist Church, Goshen.
