GOSHEN — Barbara Elaine Tayler, 72, died Monday at her home.
She was born Oct. 29, 1940 in St. Louis. Mo., to Joseph E. and Erna (Herrscher) Stelmach.
She married Chuck Tayler Sept. 2, 1967, in Oceanside, Calif. He survives along with two sons, Scott (Kaaren) Tayler, Rochester, N.Y. and Tim (Mala) Tayler, Princeton, N.J.; four grandchildren; and five siblings, Joan Hause, Allan Stelmach, Carolyn Woodward, Harlan Stelmach and Mary Weston.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graduate of Whittier College and a lifelong teacher, Barbara taught biology and chemistry at Northridge High School in Middlebury for 18 years. In addition to teaching, Barbara and Chuck ran a bed and breakfast in Middlebury.
A member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren, Barbara enjoyed growing flowers in her greenhouse. For 20 years she worked alongside her husband in his woodworking business.
Friends may call one hour prior to the 11 a.m. memorial service Oct. 12 at Goshen City Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Bev Weaver will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Goshen City Church of the Brethren, Northridge High School Dollars for Scholars or Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
At Barbara’s request, her body has been donated to IU Medical School.
