Anna E. Borkholder, 85, 2058 E. B. Road, died Saturday at 10:15 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, where she had been since July. She suffered a stroke June 20, 2012.
She was born Jan. 24, 1927, in LaGrange County, to Eli S. and Sarah (Herschberger) Lehman. She was born and raised in LaGrange County, and was a lifetime area resident of the Nappanee area.
Anna was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She married Eli D.S. Borkholder Oct. 21, 1948, in LaGrange County. He survives, along with sons, Willis (Freida) Borkholder and Owen (Carolyn) Borkholder, both of Nappanee, Eli Jr. (Ruth) Borkholder and Allen (Sharon) Borkholder, both of Bremen; daughters, Viola (Willard) Miller of New Paris, Lucy (Darryl) Hochstetler of Nappanee, and Susie (Randal) Hochstetler of Bremen; 45 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; brothers Amos (Wilma) Lehman of Shipshewana, Levi (Ann) Lehman of Wolcottville; sisters Edna (Ervin) Whetstone of Topeka, Dena Miller of Millersburg, Ohio, and Clara (Ammon) Bontrager of LaGrange.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Harvey Lehman.
The family will receive friends today after 2 p.m. at the family residence, and all day Tuesday, also at the family residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Emory Kaufman residence, 1699 B. Road, Bremen. Bishop Wilbur Kuhns and the Home Ministry will officiate. Burial will follow in Borkholder Cemetery.
