Carol J. “Bud” Bailey, 90, 1106 Westwood Drive, died Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen.
He was born Aug. 28, 1922 in Goshen, to Glen and Sydna (Maggart) Bailey.
He was married to Charlotte (Tope) Bailey Oct. 16, 1942. She died Dec. 10,1986.
On Dec. 4, 1997, he married Alpha Jean (Kitchen) Bailey, who survives in Goshen.
Also surviving are his daughter, Sydney (David) Troyer, Goshen; sons, Dennis (Jane) Bailey, Elkhart, and Michael (Susan) Bailey, Creswell, Ore.; stepchildren, George Kitchen, Mary Davis and Philip Kitchen, all of Elkhart; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 10 stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte; brother, Ivan Bailey; half sister, Miriam Stiver; and stepchildren, Brad Kitchen and Kelly Kitchen.
He served as a tank mechanic in Germany and England during World War II. He was discharged in 1945. He worked for the former Hudson Garage in Goshen from 1945 to 1954. He began his career with the city of Goshen in the electrical engineering department in 1954 and worked for the Goshen City Sewer Department for 34 years.
There will be a time of visitation with the family Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. The Rev. Lenny Krebs will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be take place at Hess Cemetery, Goshen.
