Max L. Myers

MIDDLEBURY — Max L. Myers, 84, of Middlebury, died at 11:25 p.m. on Friday at IU Health Goshen Hospital. He was in declining health since his heart surgery in December.

He was born in Wakarusa, to Jerry and Mary (Billman) Myers. On Oct. 2, 1949, at Zion Church in Madison Township, he married Elaine Beehler. She survives.

He is the father of Nancy Myers of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Janie and Donny Russell, both of Sturgis, Mich.; also surviving is a brother, Dr. Richard (Shirley) Myers of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Colonial Jean C. Myers.

He was founder and owner of Max Myers Motors in Middlebury from 1955 to 1993. He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, a charter member of Maple Crest Country Club, served on the board of First State Bank for several years and he and his wife enjoyed many winters in Florida. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Miller-Stewart

Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Middlebury, followed by a private family burial at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Randy Schroeder.
