Vaunda LaKae ‘Kae’ Davey

May 14, 1930-April 8, 2013

GOSHEN — Vaunda LaKae “Kae” Davey, 82, passed away at Memorial Epworth Hospital in South Bend Monday.

She was born May 14, 1930 in Olney, Ill., to Lawrence E. and Margery W. Whitson.

On Oct. 10, 1953, she married Michael D.A. Davey in Vincennes. He preceded her in death June 22, 1993 in Elkhart.

She is survived by her son, Derrick S. Davey of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; three daughters, Pamela K. Davey of Chesterton, Tracey M. Stack of Goshen and Kimberly A. (Rory) Brock of Bristol. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Eric W.M. Stack, Rory Brock Jr., Cheyanne Brock and Jetta Brock; and two nieces.

Vaunda was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Marie Davey; husband, Michael D.A. Davey; and sister, Naccoli Pedersen.

Mrs. Davey was a courier for Roche Laboratories in South Bend, a census taker and researcher for the University of Michigan. She also served for 75 years as a minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a member of the South Elkhart Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a 1953 graduate of Watchtower School of Gilead in New York. She loved traveling and being a mother and grandmother.

Services will take place Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 25448 C.R. 22, Elkhart. Leonard Konkle Jr. will officiate the service.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Elkhart South. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
