MILLERSBURG — Brenda K. Centers, 58, died after a courageous three-year battle with cancer early Wednesday morning at IU Health Goshen Hospital.  She had been under hospice care since August.

She was born June 25, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio, to Everett L. and Ruth (Kennedy) Hamm.  

She married William L. Centers Sept. 11, 1971, in Manchester, Ky. He died May 29, 2010.

She is survived by her three daughters, Tonya (David Cross) Myers, Billie Jo Centers and Bobbie Jo Centers, all of Millersburg; three grandchildren, Braxton Myers and Conner and Jayla Centers; three sisters, Carol (Jim) Marcheski and Sandy (Chester) Prather, both of Dayton, Ohio, and Linda (Virgil) Wiley, Springboro, Ohio; and two brothers, Rocky Large, Dayton, Ohio, and Everett L. Hamm Jr., Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

Brenda was a member of the Millersburg Church of Christ.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the 5 p.m. funeral service Saturday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. The Rev. David Main of Millersburg Church of Christ will officiate.

Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or to the Elkhart County Humane Society.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
