OSCEOLA — Miriam E. Kesler Hartman, 88, died early Tuesday morning at her home.
She was born in April of 1925 in Noble County to Kenneth W. and Maurine (Holman) Carpenter.
On April 5, 1942, she married Benjamin E. Kesler in Shipshewana. He died April 14, 1981. She later married Arthur P. Hartman Aug. 12, 1982. He died June 16, 2005.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie (David) Runnels, Osceola; six sons, James Kesler, New Hartford, N.Y., Kenneth Kesler, Ann Arbor, Mich., Richard Kesler, Goshen, Steven Kesler, Nappanee, Stanley Kesler, Indiana, Pa., Dennis Kesler, Coldwater, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Ila Faye (Dan) Stump, Albuquerque, N.M., and Julia (James) Norton, Goshen; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Jewett, Goshen, and Verda (Kenneth) Lorenz, Greentown; and a brother, Charles A. Carpenter, White Pigeon, Mich.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Scotson Hartman; and a brother, W. Dail Carpenter.
Miriam started working in food service at Goshen College. She later worked for many years at Goshen Hospital before her retirement. She was a member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Saturday funeral service, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. The Rev. Harold Knight will officiate.
Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery.
